A Leading Center Holder of Chandigarh Chhaya School of Art in Chhattisgarh
Gautam Kumar, a distinguished artist and educator from Chhattisgarh, discovered his passion for painting at a very young age. As a child, he would draw images on walls using coal, instinctively expressing his creativity. Although his parents recognized his talent, they were unable to support him initially. Fate, however, had other plans. A well-wisher from Bengal noticed Gautam’s artistic ability and encouraged him to participate in a national-level painting competition, where he secured second position. This moment became the turning point of his life.

From then on, Gautam never looked back. He continued to hone his skills under the guidance of renowned artists and gradually established himself as a painter, watercolor artist, and writer. His artwork uniquely presents ancient traditions, migrations, and cultures through a modern visual language. For Gautam, art is not merely a means of earning; it is a path to inner satisfaction and soulful expression.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, he has played a significant role in nurturing budding artists. He has written more than 30 art-related books, yet to be published, which are expected to be highly beneficial for art students. Gautam has received numerous national and international awards, including Best Teacher Awards, state and national painting prizes, and participation in prestigious art festivals and exhibitions across India.
He has also been associated with multiple Guinness World Record attempts involving large-scale collaborative paintings. Currently, Gautam Kumar serves as the Principal of Gautam Art Institute of Fine Arts, an affiliated institution of Chandigarh Chhaya School of Art. Every year, more than 100 students successfully pursue their artistic journey under his mentorship, making him a true torchbearer of fine arts in the region
